Hello!
I have lurked here for awhile but am finding that maybe I have some courage to ask a question.
I admit, I'm a weird "mutt", straddling being comfortably in the world of the material & informed by science, but also constantly being very much drawn back to the world of metaphysical topics, to the world I was very comfortable living in as a child.
I practice in two healthcare clinics, providing acupuncture to patients. Love my work, my colleagues and patients! But I struggle coming home with aches and pains, sometimes feeling emotionally heavy. I was told many times by older practitioners of my field to protect my energies in my work. I never took this message seriously because well, adulthood and real life stuff (and none of the fluffy wuffy).
I'm approaching a point in my life however, where I feel absolutely drained and am finding I need to set boundaries to protect my energy both at work, at home and with friends.
It's getting bad enough that it's making me frequently sick, constantly drained of energy, and feeling empty with nothing left to give socially, at work and also with family.
I stumbled upon your site after listening to your podcast which re-ignited something deep within me, nudging me to really take drawing energy boundaries and setting up energetic protection seriously.
Problem is, I'm about as intuitive as an eraser but for some reason, I seem to have a knack for taking home the gunk I work on in my patients. Maybe I'm just a little over empathetic and a people pleaser. But it's been a problem that I had for years which is starting to only now take a toll on my health and personal energy levels.
I realize it's something I have to work on (in addition to doing therapy, eating well, asking for help from friends more often, and recognizing what my body needs and listening to it when it's tired).
Are there ways to "set up a protective energetic perimeter" around yourself while at work so I don't walk home with patient problems?
I realize this is a very complex question and this may not be so easily answered on a forum. But I'm open to it being asked in discussion perhaps in an online session specifically for those of us who are curious and haven't a clue about how the metaphysical works.
Any insights shared here will be appreciated. Thanks for listening to this weird newbie question!
Dreams are a place where we can learn, communicate, and sort things out. It's also the place that it is safe to experience the metaphysical without fear. I encourage you to document your dreams and every now and then review them. Look for patterns and messages that only the review…
